The Church of Sidmouth was granted in1212 by Bishop Marshall to the monastery of St Michael de Monte in Normandy, to which the Priory of Otterton was a cell. It was rebuilt in 1859/60 and everyhting was renewed except the tower and arcade on each side of the nave.
